The only English book on the agrimensores

This is the sole introduction in English to Roman land surveying. There seems to be a fuller literature in French, German and Italian, but there is almost nothing in English. The only other books of any substance are Campbell The Writings of the Roman Land Surveyors (Journal of Roman Studies Monograph) and Bouma Marcus Iunius Nypsus - Fluminis Varatio / Limitis Repositio: Introduction, Text, Translation and Commentary (Studien Zur Klassischen Philologie, Bd.). Campbell does not translate the whole Corpus Agrimensorum, and that ought to be done. Roman land surveying intersects with geometry, technical instruments, weights and measures, mapping, skilled trades, land law (the Lex Mamilia), taxation, and augury. Menso Folkerts has written in German some short works on the mathematics that appears in the Corpus Agrimensorum, and this deserves to be written about in English, perhaps as part of a book covering the technical parts of Roman land surveying, and then another work could cover the social parts. The only agrimensor whose name you might have heard is Sextus Julius Frontinus, who wrote "De aquaeductu". The other names are probably known only by the few people who have inspected the Corpus Agrimensorum: Balbus, Hyginus, Hyginus Gromaticus, Agennius Urbicus, Marcus Julius Nipsus, Vitruvius Rufus, Epaphroditus.
At least Dilke's book ought to be revised and published. There are some misprints, the endnotes would be easier to use as footnotes and are short enough for that, and some of the technical descriptions could be expanded.
